Coinciding with its first year celebration in the airwaves, UNTV Radio La Verdad was named the “Most Supportive Radio Station” by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) recently.
The Social Welfare and Development Department celebrated its 62nd anniversary last January this year.
The DSWD singled out UNTV Radio for its relentless assistance to the agency’s social welfare and development programs and services in the country through the dissemination of timely news and information to the public.
DSWD Secretary Dinky Soliman personally thanked Kuya Daniel Razon for the assistance he continuously gives to the agency through UNTV Radio. Soliman added, “Kuya Daniel maraming salamat, sapagkat ang pinakamahalaga, tinutulungan nyo kaming maghatid ng balita (Thank you Kuya Daniel, most importantly for helping us to deliver the news).”
The DSWD recognition is the second public service award that Radio La Verdad received within the same month.
Prior to this award, the radio station received an award from Gandingan 2013: The 7th UPLB Isko’t Iska’s Broadcast Choice Awards. The station’s Bloodletting plug, which encourages people to donate blood, was awarded Best Development-Oriented Radio Plug.
Gandingan, being the first broadcast-based award-giving body in the entire UP system, recognizes outstanding broadcasters, programs, and materials thereby challenging media stations to produce quality content.
UNTV’s Bread N’ Butter television program received its second award from Gandingan, the Best Livelihood-Oriented Program.
UNTV Radio Station Manager Annie Rentoy pointed out that the Radyo La Verdad delivers public service not for public honor, reverberating what Kuya Daniel has kept iterating that “with or without recognition, we will do whatever we have to do.”
On UNTV Radio’s first year, the station added its newest program, Dear Kuya, hosted by Kuya Daniel with Bro. Eli Soriano of Ang Dating Daan radio-television show as resource person.
