QUEZON CITY, Philippines – The Philippine Science High School Foundation, Inc. (PSHS Foundation) lauded Kuya Daniel Razon for conceptualizing UNTV Cup.

PSHS Foundation project assistant Micah Tiburcio expressed their deepest gratitude to Kuya Daniel Razon for launching the charity basketball league that is now on its fifth season.

Tiburcio also thanked the Bureau of Fire Protection – Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Firefighters for choosing the foundation as its beneficiary.

“A million thanks to the BFP Firefighters Team,” remarked Tiburcio. “Whatever amount goes to the foundation will benefit the PSHS community.”

With fund raising projects focused on direct solicitation from alumni, corporations and generous individuals, the financial aid from UNTV Cup will help ensure the sustainability of the main programs of PSHS Foundation.

The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) Firefighters under the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) is one of the 13 participating government agencies playing for the UNTV Cup Season 5.

Organized on February 11, 1978, the PSHS Foundation provides opportunities for scholars and mentors in achieving excellence. Its purpose is to maintain educational distinction by bridging the gap between available government funds and the actual financial requirements needed by the school.

Kuya Daniel Razon, the Chairman and CEO of UNTV–Breakthrough and Milestones Productions International (BMPI), launched UNTV Cup on July 29, 2013.

Aimed at fostering inter-agency camaraderie through the most unifying sport in the Philippines, UNTV Cup doles out cash prizes to the chosen beneficiaries of the winning teams.

UNTV Cup features public servants from respective agencies of the three branches of government.

Kuya Daniel, in cooperation with Ang Dating Daan host Bro. Eli Soriano of Members Church of God International (MCGI), co-sponsors the UNTV Cup.

Do-or-Die Quarterfinals Match

The BFP Firefighters is set to battle the two-time UNTV Cup runner-up Philippine National Police (PNP) Responders today, February 5, 2017 at 3:00 p.m. at the Pasig Sports Complex in the quarterfinals.

Coming from Group B, the BFP Firefighters finished the elimination round with 6 wins and 4 losses.

The PNP Responders, on the other hand, finished with of 8 wins and 2 losses in Group A.

The BFP Firefighters will be eliminated in the UNTV Cup Season 5 if it loses in the upcoming weekend game.

Win or lose, the BFP Firefighters will still receive a consolation cash prize.
