Netizens Make UNTV’s “Why News” English Newscast A Top Philippine Trending Topic

In Journalism 101, a basic news story include the 5Ws and 1H. But the airing of UNTV’s first English news program Why News, it reminds viewers what the most important element of news is – why a certain news matter.
With only 30 minutes running time, the newscast that premiered on February 2 this year is anchored by Angelo Diego Castro III and Gerry Alcantara. Why News’ regular broadcast runs Monday to Friday, 7:30 to 8:00 p.m.
Why News goes by the tagline, “Because we need to know” and thus, reports only essential local and international events.
The English-format program, a brainchild of seasoned broadcaster Daniel Razon, is aimed at bringing quality and intelligent news to UNTV’s global audience.
#WhyNewsUNTV Trends on Twitter
The day before its pilot airing, Why News received warm and positive reception from netizens. The hashtag #WhyNewsUNTV landed on the 4th spot of the trending topics on Twitter and remained trending for more than five hours starting at around 3 pm.
The said news program bears with it the first initiative to display an English translation of the news articles being shown. This is another trailblazing milestone in the Philippine broadcast industry.
