Kuya Daniel Razon’s innovations in the Philippine music and FM radio through his brainchild — Wish 107.5 — has made waves both in the local and international scene. In only a period of five years, the station has been recognized worldwide for its out-of-the-box concept of delivering music in different media channels.
To celebrate Wish 107.5’s fifth anniversary, a day or a week is not enough. A whole month is needed to revel in its record-breaking milestones. Hence, on August 1, the radio station has kicked off its month-long fete dubbed the “Wish Month.”
The Industry Trailblazer
Since its launching on August 10, 2014, Wish 107.5 has been reinventing Philippine airwaves and cyberspace. Through Kuya Daniel’s visionary mind, the radio station has become not only a platform for showcasing OPM (Original Pilipino Music) but also a pioneer in the local and international music industry.
The string of innovation started with the unveiling of Wish 107.5 Bus, a mobile broadcast booth cum recording studio, where rising and established musicians perform live on different sites in Metro Manila and other parts of the Philippines. Local and international recording artists have been hopping on this unique “stage” to entertain their fans.
Because of the listeners’ overwhelming acceptance of the original Wish 107.5 Bus, the station launched additional two — one in the U.S. and another in the Philippines. The fourth one, which is planned to hit the roads of Europe, is currently in the works.
Not only the performances of guest musicians in these three buses are broadcast live, but these are also recorded in high-quality videos for uploading on YouTube. These “Wishclusives” became the driving force behind the massive growth of Wish 107.5’s YouTube subscribers, which is more than 6.4 million as of this writing.
The radio station has also launched Wishcovery, an online singing competition to discover the next generation of talented Filipino musicians.
“One of the things I really like to do is to help the Filipino artist to reach out to the globe…to be able to showcase their talent anywhere,” Kuya Daniel said in an interview.
List of Events
Wish 107.5’s celebration kicked off last August 1 with the live broadcast of its programs Wish List, The Roadshow, and Wishpers of Love from the Wish 107.5 Bus. Some of the industry’s leading names, including Imago, Barbie Almalbis, Side A, Autotelic, and Keiko Necesario rocked and serenaded the Ayala Malls Circuit in Makati.
Throughout the month, the Wish 107.5 Bus will also stop by different parts of Metro Manila and other areas in the Philippines to stage live performances.
The station will also give away merchandise items through promos to its radio and online listeners, as well as its on-ground activations.
Wish 365 Concert
The Wish Month will wrap up with the “365 Anniversary Concert” on August 25 at the Aliw Theater, Pasay City. The numbers 365 stand for the station’s achievements — 3 Wish Buses, 6 million subscribers, and 5 years in the industry.
Asia’s Soul Supreme KZ Tandingan and Darren Espanto, as well as OPM bands IV of Spades and Ben&Ben will headline the concert. They will be joined by folk-pop sensation Syd Hartha, rising band 3rd Avenue, and other guests.
Wishcovery talents The Wishfuls — composed of Princess Sevillena, Kimberly Baluzo, Louie Culala, Carmela Ariola, and Hacel Bartolome — and Rhea Basco will also perform.
In line with Kuya Daniel’s advocacy of granting wishes, especially to the less fortunate, the station will give a total of P500,000 to five charitable foundations during this event.
