Quezon City, PHILIPPINES (July 1, 2016) — Veteran broadcaster and BMPI-UNTV CEO and Chairman, Dr. Daniel “Kuya Daniel” Razon, called on the Filipino people to do their part to realize the positive change they are expecting from newly-inaugurated Philippine President Rodrigo Roa Duterte.
The veteran broadcaster made his call on his morning news program Hataw Balita on UNTV Life early Friday morning.
“Alam ho namin na bilang isang Pilipino, mayroon din kaming bahagi para sa inyong ibig na maging pagbabago. Kaya ang aming panawagan sa lahat ng ating mga kababayan, huwag ho nating ibigay lahat ng problema sa ating pangulo,” said Kuya Daniel. (We know that as Filipinos, we also have a part to do for the change you wanted to achieve. So we call on all our countrymen, let’s not pass on all the problems to our president.)
Kuya Daniel added, “Gawin ho natin kung ano ang ating magagawa, ibahagi natin kung ano ang ating maibibigay … bilang isang mamamahayag, bilang isang ordinaryong tao, at bilang isang Pilipino at higit sa lahat, bilang isang Kristiyano.” (Let us do what we can do, share what we can share. As a broadcaster, as a regular citizen, as a Filipino and, above all, as a Christian.)
Kuya Daniel, dubbed as the country’s Mr. Public Service, also gave good feedback of President Duterte and hopes that he will continue his way of leadership. He commended Duterte’s stance of pushing the entire country’s interests before his own, citing his efforts to reach out to the poor in Tondo, Manila after his inauguration in Malacañang.
He also lauded the president’s stance against gambling and one of his cabinet members, incoming chief executive Peter Lavina, quitting cigarettes and liquor as examples.
Kuya Daniel also took note of Duterte’s belief in the Great Creator as a positive sign, saying, “What touches me more is the fact na sinabi nya kanina, eto yung nadinig ko na binitawan nya na, ‘Sa mga hindi naniniwala sa Dios, maniwala kayong may Dios, dahil ako naniniwala,’ sabi nya na, ‘ako nandito dahil ito ay gusto ng Dios na mapunta ako dito’.” (What touches me more is the fact he said earlier. What I heard he said was, “To those who don’t believe in God, believe in God, because I believe that I am here because God wants me to be here”).
For Kuya Daniel, one’s belief in God is already something that one can hold on to.
“Kasi pag ang tao hindi kumikilala sa Dios medyo alanganin ka na dyan, and or sinasabi ang Dios sa nguso pero hindi nilalagay sa puso,” he explained. (Because if someone doesn’t believe in God or half-heartedly says he believes in God, you’re already in an uncertain position).
Finally, the UNTV Chief emphasized instilling faith in God to be able to bring real change to the country:
“Huwag ho nating kalilimutan; wala tayong magagawa kung iiwan tayo ng Panginoon. Lagi ho tayong manatiling nagtitiwala sa magagawa ng Dios sa ating mga buhay; and hopefully, ang isang bagong administrasyon na ito ay makapagdala nga ng isang tunay na pagbabago. Isang pagbabagong hindi dahil sa ano pa mang interes o dahil sa pansariling kapakanan kung hindi pagbabagong kailangan ng ating sambayanan.” (Let us not forget, we cannot do anything without the Lord. Let us always put our trust in what God can do to our lives; and hopefully, this new administration will be able to bring true change. Change not because of any vested interest or personal gains but change our country needs.)
Kuya Daniel also assured his continuous support, as a broadcaster and public servant, with UNTV and in partnership with the Members Church of God International (MCGI), to the Duterte administration.
He cited international televangelist Bro. Eli Soriano of The Old Path in saying, “Lahat ng mabuting bagay na pwede tayong maging part ay maging part tayo.” (Let us be part of everything good that we can be part of.)
