The North American premiere of the advocacy film Isang Araw: Ikatlong Yugto, the third installment of the film directed and starred by Kuya Daniel Razon, last January was warmly-received by Filipinos from the US and Canada.

The film showing in two separate venues in the East and West Coast on January 15 in Pasadena City College in California and January 22 in Queens Theater in New York  followed its successful international debut in Australia.

“I am really happy and excited because it is my first time to see him (Kuya Daniel) again in person. … (The film) was great. There were a lot of tear-jerking scenes, action and lessons,” said Allen Cabamungan, who was one of those who watched the movie there.

“The movie was really amazing. One will learn a lot, there were several Bible passages in Kuya’s (Daniel Razon) lines,” Jojo Pasion, who came all the way from Canada, said of the advocacy film.

As a broadcaster and philanthropist known to many as Mr. Public Service, the movie’s director and leading actor Daniel Razon seeks to impart good values through the film to viewers.

“The movie has a lot in it: things happening now, things [realities] that the people need to understand. It is actually true,” Kuya Daniel said during the movie screening.

The veteran broadcast journalist added, “We must know that doing good deeds does not bear evil because that is what the Bible says.”

So one thing a person must remember is to always choose what’s right. We must always choose good over evil because no good deeds bear evil,” continued Kuya Daniel in an interview with UNTV News and Rescue’s North American Bureau.

Isang Araw: Ikatlong Yugto continues the saga of a former cop turned jeepney driver (played by Kuya Daniel) who sees to it that he will do good to everyone, even at his own expense. At the start of Ikatlong Yugto, Kuya Daniel is now a coffee shop owner who runs the small business with friends.

The third film in the series features a powerhouse cast of seasoned and multi-awarded actors and actresses that include the Philippines’ Superstar Ms. Nora Aunor, Ms. Gina Pareño, Jacky Lou Blanco, Rey “PJ” Abellana, Eagle Riggs, and Jeffrey Santos.

Other celebrities who joined film’s cast include Wendell Ramos, Rommel Padilla, Bayani Agbayani, Johnny Packing, Lara Quigaman, Alex Diaz, Marlo Mortel, and Michelle Vito, among others.

Philippine National Police’s chief Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa has a special role in this inspirational advocacy film.

Cash Donation to PNP

Part of the proceeds of the Isang Araw: Ikatlong Yugto amounting to P4-million was recently personally donated by Kuya Daniel Razon to PNP Chief Dela Rosa.

Kuya Daniel is also the CEO of the Breakthrough and Milestones Productions International (BMPI) and UNTV.

The cash donation will be used to assist the police’s efforts in the war against drugs, particularly to fund rehabilitation efforts of drug surrenderees and former illegal drug dependents.

The advocacy film is set for a major screening in the Tanghalang Pasigueño in Pasig City in February.
