Kuya Daniel Razon hosted-“Serbisyong Kasangbahay,” UNTV News and Rescue’s latest public service program, became an avenue of hope for an epileptic toddler with speech disorder during its August 22 episode.
Struggles of a Mother and Daughter
Alma Fernandez, 38 years old, pastry items vendor, sought help from “Serbisyong Kasangbahay” for her youngest child, Maria Fatima, three years old, epileptic with delayed speech and language development.
“When she was a baby, she suffered from neonatal sepsis. Upon reaching home, she had a seizure, which developed to epilepsy,” Alma said during the interview by Kuya Daniel.
Until now, Maria Fatima is taking maintenance medicine, Valproic Acid, which has a price range of approximately between P55 and P495 depending on the dosage strength and form. This cost is taken from the meager income that Alma makes in selling baked goods.
Alma revealed that Maria Fatima had to stop with her speech therapy at the Philippine General Hospital because of the lack of funds.
Avenue of Hope
“I talked to Atty. Dot Gancayco, my colleague here (in UNTV News and Rescue), who agreed to shoulder the therapy expenses of your child (Maria Fatima),” Kuya Daniel told Alma who was delighted upon hearing the heart-warming news.
Kuya Daniel said, “With the help of the Lord, we could help you raise your daughter.”
“Serbisyong Kasangbahay,” has its telecast from Monday to Friday at 4:30-5:30 pm via UNTV News and Rescue Channel with a simulcast on UNTV Radio La Verdad 1350 kHz and live streaming on www.untvweb.com and Facebook.
