Daniel Razon’s Free Healthcare Programs Earn Him an EPIC Award

Pioneering and exemplary.

This is how the Philippine Academy of Medical Specialists (PAMS) sees the free healthcare projects of Daniel Razon when it named him one of its eight EPIC awardees last November 16 at the Diamond Hotel in Manila.

The EPIC Awards, now on its 8th year, recognizes doctors and non-medical personalities who uphold the goals and advocacies of PAMS. EPIC stands for Eight Pioneering Individual or Community.

In the medical field, the UNTV CEO is recognized for his free daily medical assistance through ‘Clinic ni Kuya’, regular nationwide medical missions, and quarterly simultaneous blood donation drives.

To date, there are at least 14 Clinic ni Kuya branches stationed in different Philippine provinces giving out zero-cost medical aid and medicines.

Razon, who is also popularly known as Kuya Daniel, has recently distributed UNTV-sponsored PhilHealth cards to help Filipino families get discounts from the high medical and hospitalization bills.

Kuya Daniel through UNTV shoulders the premium membership of the PhilHealth card.

Selection of EPIC Awardee

The awards committee of PAMS cited these public service works of the multi-awarded broadcast journalist that render better health care and services nationwide.

PAMS President Dr. Daisy Lim-Camitan commended Kuya Daniel for taking the lead in launching programs that grant people easy access to healthcare assistance.

“Ang lahat ng nagawa ni Kuya Daniel, siya yung nag-isip, siya yung nanguna at nakaisip ng idea in terms of public service sa mga kababayan natin pagdating sa kalusugan at kaligtasan. (In all that Kuya Daniel has done, he’s the one who conceptualized and took the lead in terms of public service to our fellowmen related to health and safety.),” Dr. Lim-Camitan said in an interview.

PAMS, composed of 43 chapters with 6,000 plus members who are all doctors, selects eight EPIC awardees annually.

Like the other 7 recipients of the award, Kuya Daniel was nominated by PAMS members. The Awards Committee then screened his nomination. After a thorough screening, his selection was passed to the Executive Committee and was approved by the committee.

Daniel Razon: Thank you, EPIC Awards!

Unable to personally receive the award during the awarding ceremony, Kuya Daniel accepted the trophy in his morning show, Good Morning Kuya!, last November 18.

“Thank you to the organizers, to all who are behind the 8th recognition,” the broadcast journalist aired his appreciation while his co-hosts were teasing him for a treat.

And for the nth time as he always does, Kuya Daniel reiterated that “all honor and glory are of God who uses and gives us opportunities to be instruments of good works to our fellowmen.”
