Wish FM 107.5’s wish-granting program for its listeners and Filipinos in need received a big shot at the arm recently, as Kuya Daniel Razon assured the radio station that Breakthrough and Milestones Productions International (BMPI), where the veteran broadcast journalist is Chairman and CEO, will support it all the way.
“Wish FM will continue to grant wishes of those less fortunate fellowmen here in the Philippines,” said Kuya Daniel during the FM station’s grand finale of its Ultimate Fandom Challenge on the evening of June 28, 2016, at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City.
Kuya Daniel, who is also known for the moniker Mr. Public Service, is a key partner of the FM radio station..
The Wish 107.5 bus concept, a pioneering and first of its kind FM mobile radio in the Philippines, was modeled after Kuya Daniel’s innovative radio-on-wheels concept and public services in UNTV.
“This fandom challenge is different from other challenges dahil po nakapaloob pa rin ‘yung charity at pagtulong sa ating kapwa tao,” added Razon, known for his public service efforts with the UNTV television station
(This fandom challenge is different from other challenges because we incorporated charity works to help our fellowmen.)
The veteran broadcaster added: “And we’re looking forward to doing more of these. Wish FM will be introducing different kinds of challenges like this, as well as the continuation of Wish Awards.”
The first edition of the Wish FM 107.5 Ultimate Fandom Challenge was a two-month long series of challenges among the fan groups of famous OPM artists. Their challenges included Twitter trending efforts, YouTube music video power viewing, and album sales, among others.
The fandom challenge was capped off with the grand finale concert where the fans got the opportunity to perform song and dance numbers with their favorite artists. Winning fandoms were awarded cash prizes not only for them and their favorite artists, but also for their chosen charitable institutions.
This first year of Ultimate Fandom Challenge saw Jason Dy and his Dyfenders winning as grand champions. Dy, his group and their beneficiary, Kythe Foundation Inc. – a charitable institution for children with cancer – received a total of PhP1 million.
First runner-up Darren Espanto and Darrenatics fan group won Php 500,000 for their chosen charity, World Vision, a charity group for poor families.
The Juanistas and their favorite boy band, The Juans, landed 2nd runner up winning Php 300,000 for Real Life Foundation, Inc. that helps deserving students who cannot afford college education.
Fourth-placed Mowienatics and their favorite diva Morissette Amon secured Php 200,000 for the Merixtell Children’s Foundation, Inc.
Ranked fifth, Darylnatics and balladeer Daryl Ong, with their chosen beneficiary Blessed Ville Special School Foundation, Inc., took home Php 150,000.
Sixth runner-up Juan Karlos Labajo and his fandom Juan Karlos United Families Club received Php 100,000 for their chosen charity, Lingap Voluntourism PH, Inc., a group that merges tourism with helping indigenous communities.
Aside from being a trendsetter in terms of supporting OPM or Original Pinoy Music through giving breaks to budding local artists, pioneering the use of an FM radio studio on wheels called the Wish Bus, and using YouTube and other social media platforms in promoting Philippine music, Wish FM 107.5 also is the first of its kind in the Philippines in giving public service. It has started granting wishes to listeners in what it calls the Wish List.
