Kuya Daniel Razon is urging each participating agency of UNTV Cup Season 2 to form their news team, which will report information about their respective departments.
The BMPI-UNTV CEO and Chairman added that participating agencies will be allotted time in UNTV news programs.
Kuya Daniel, who is also known as Mr. Public Service, expressed his goal to better inform the public of the real accounts on Philippine government agencies coming from the employee themselves.
“You will have your respective team that will act as your own reporter. Your team will provide summary about your department,” stressed Kuya Daniel, further explaining,“In return, UNTV will offer you air time both in the afternoon and evening newscasts to discuss your reports.”
The veteran broadcaster aims to change the biased connotation about government personnel, which puts community improvement projects into a bad light.
“We want to give you also the benefit of having this UNTV Cup. A part of our public service collaboration is that we will strive to correct the wrong reports circulating about your agencies. This is an opportunity for you to let the general public hear your side,” expounded the BMPI-UNTV Chairman and CEO.
UNTV Cup Season 2 kicked off on February 11 this year at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City. Thousands of sports fans and supporters of the basketball cause were estimated to have watched the game.
Ten government agencies, each comprised of 18 legitimate employees including a guest player who has retired for five years after playing from a professional league, vie for the one-million-peso cash prize as the champion team.
The first runner-up winner will get half a million pesos while the second and third runners-up will receive P250,000 and P150,000, respectively.
All prizes will go to the chosen charity foundation of the winning teams.
“We will not intervene with whichever charity institution you will choose. You can pick any group to donate your cash prize as long as it is a charitable institution and the money will indeed go to charity,”said Kuya Daniel.
Meanwhile, UNTV Cup Commissioner Fortunato “Atoy” Co said that this tournament will give a chance to government employees to show their talent while aiding those who are in need.
“We wish that those who were not famous before will finally become known through UNTV. We want the players to experience the feeling that when they arrive at home, (their friends and families) will tease them because they lost hands-down to the other team. Or if they triumph, they will be congratulated,” the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) legend said.
Team Judiciary emerged as champion from the UNTV Cup Basketball League Season 1 held last year.
