Daniel Razon: Foundation is Underway to Help Retired Players

Kuya Daniel Razon is planning to create a foundation dedicated for retired PBA players.

This was after the successful outcome of the exhibition game that put up a PhP1-million donation for the immediate recovery of ex-PBA player Samboy “Skywalker” Lim.

“This will be the start of something bigger for the PBA legends,” Kuya Daniel spoke about the foundation.

Kuya Daniel is the Chairman and CEO of Breakthrough and Milestones Productions International (BMPI), the company which provides some of the content that is being aired by UNTV.

As planned, the foundation will not only launch benefit basketball games but other projects geared to improve the lives of former PBA players and provide education for their children.

UNTV Cup 3: PBA Legends vs UNTV Cup All-Stars

The benefit game for the “Skywalker” brought together the former PBA players and UNTV All-Star team on a head-to-head battle at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum during the UNTV Cup 3 Finals last April 28.

The PBA legends played under “Team Skywalker” and included Atoy Co, Jojo Lastimosa, Pido Jarencio, Hector Calma, Franz Pumaren, and Olsen Racela. Also in the line-up were Bong Ravena, Ato Agustin, Art dela Cruz, Freddie Abuda, Alvin Teng, Ronnie Magsanoc, and Tonichi Yturri. The team won the exciting game against Team UNTV and brought the Big Dome up on its feet.

Lim, referred to by Kuya Daniel as one of the pillars who have helped made basketball the number one sport in the country, is now out of coma and is steadily recuperating.

His mother personally received the PhP1-million assistance from Kuya Daniel during the awarding ceremony after the exhibition game.

Kuya Daniel came up with the idea after seeing huge turnout of support from PBA fans, the Members of the Church of God International (MCGI), and PBA legends themselves led by Allan “the Triggerman” Caidic.

The initiative is expected to become a beacon of hope for the heroes of local basketball industry during their time of need.

The UNTV Cup series continues to generate support from government agencies as more teams submitted their application for the next set of games. Kuya Daniel confirmed this when he said that UNTV Cup 4 will be bigger and better.

Bro. Eli Soriano of the Ang Dating Daan and a key partner in many projects of UNTV and Kuya Daniel, himself, pledged to prepare his own contribution for the beneficiaries of the next UNTV Cup.
