“Sila ang magmamana ng kalalabasan ng darating na election,” veteran broadcast journalist Daniel Razon said in an infomercial being aired by UNTV, referring to the youth as recipients of the outcome of the forthcoming 2010 elections.
For several months that the television station is airing its series of elections-related information, Razon’s constant call to the citizens is for everyone to become vigilant, which is a key to ensuring clean elections.
He also calls on voters to be extra careful in marking their ballots. The author of the Kahit Isang Araw Lang advocacy, Razon, noted the value of each vote in shaping the future of the present generation. He stressed that shaping our future can only happen in just one day of election.
As the May 10 polls nears, his message’s relevance is heightened after the incident that mar Comelec’s 11th Hour Mock Election held at the UNTV station last April 29. Razon’s ballot was rejected, one of the three refused by the precinct count optical scanner (PCOS) machine, due to defective bar code.
As the mock election concluded, only half of the expected 1,000 voters were able to cast their votes. The delay was accounted to some of the following factors – arguments between voters and the BEI or Board of Election Inspectors, ballot rejections, and PCOS machine malfunctions.
In the same vein, Razon appeals to the public to be more sensible in making their choices of candidates to whom their votes will go. He asked voters to assess candidates platform, capacity to implement, and execute promised platforms.
As top executive and host with UNTV, Daniel Razon conceptualized the network’s array of TV programs for the upcoming automated election. Among these programs, Pollwatch 2010 provides the voting public the necessary information and updates on the upcoming polls. Political candidates are interviewed and profiled in Kilalanin Natin.
In Good Morning Kuya, Razon’s morning magazine program, the Pondahan segment discuss issues and opinions of prominent and veteran journalists and broadcasts about elections with invited guests. .
