Makati City, Philippines – Daniel Razon and his home station, UNTV, bagged the awards for Best TV Public Service Host and Best Public Service Channel in the last People’s Choice Awards.
The event called the 30th Annual Year-Ender People’s Choice Awards was held on December 20, this year.
The annual recognition, organized by the National Consumer Affairs Foundation (NCAF) and Ideal Parents and Family Foundation (IPFF), is the country’s pioneer and biggest consumers’ tribute since 1980. It confers top consumer products, manufacturers, and companies with various excellence awards.
Synonymous to the Reader’s Digest “Most Trusted Brand” and “Superbrand” Award, the seals for Best Brand, Excellence, and Product Quality are conferred to world-class product brands. Samsung, Jollibee, McDonalds, Louis Vuitton, and Toyota were among the recipients in previous nominations.
UNTV Spokesperson Atty. Wilhelm Soriano receives the awards for Kuya Daniel Razon and UNTV during the 30th Yearender Dangal ng Bayan People’s Choice Awards from the National Consumers Affairs Foundation at Asia Pacific Awards Council.
Meanwhile, the Dangal ng Bayan Achievers Award honors outstanding individuals and companies with significant accomplishments in business, public service, arts and entertainment, education, sports and other professional major fields. The award aims “to motivate individuals to maintain their respective excellence and quality performance thru public recognition as well as for their countrymen to emulate them” according to NCAF’s official website.
Razon, who is UNTV’s Chief Executive Officer, explained that maintaining UNTV’s social services is “a herculean and tedious task” for the fact that the station does not rely on its advertisers for funds.
“All these we do based on the fact that we know something is good, and that we can help others in one way or the other,” Razon said.
Known as the Pillar of Public Service in Philippine Television, UNTV continues to deliver socio-economic services to the masses at no cost – from free rides, medical aids, legal assistance, transient homes, to free private education. The mobile schools, called Dunong Gulong, and UNTV’s enhanced news advocacy “Tulong Muna Bago Balita” were the latest addition to the pack.
Tulong Muna Bago Balita is the newest advocacy launched by UNTV’s Daniel Razon.
The UNTV’s CEO who is host of the station’s flagship morning show Good Morning Kuya, conceptualized and pioneered these initiatives. Razon also known for his Kahit Isang Araw Lang advocacy that encourages everyone to devote and do good works even for just a day.
Wholesome and family-friendly. UNTV and Kuya Daniel aims to uphold this commitment for the station and all its shows. As part of its public services, UNTV refuses advertisers that it deems to have conflicting ideals with the station’s values.
To sustain UNTV’s public service commitments, Razon further explained, “Mayroon tayong mga paraan na maaari nating magawa (There are ways we can do). With God’s help, we’re trying to do that.”
Meanwhile, UNTV won Best TV Public Service Announcement in the 19th KBP Golden Dove Awards held last November 2010, while 13 of its shows received an Anak TV Seal this 2010. The seal is granted by the Southeast Asian Foundation for Children and Television to most child-sensitive TV programs.
Just recently, the Philippine Movie Press Club picked Daniel Razon as Best Male Newscaster in the 24th PMPC Star Awards for Television.
