Singer-composer Daniel “Kuya Daniel” Razon pulled off another successful charity concert on August 7, this time, for Filipinos in Australia. Dubbed Sonata of Love, the concert was the veteran broadcaster’s second performance this year after his Hong Kong visit last April.
Overseas Filipino Workers from as far as The Americas, United Arab Emirates, Papua New Guinea, New Zealand, East Timor, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore and the Philippines attended the concert held at Melbourne Park Function Centre.
Public Service Thrusts
Proceeds of the event will help support the public services of Kuya Daniel through UNTV News and Rescue, in partnership with Members Church of God International (MCGI) whose Overall Servant is Bro. Eli Soriano.
Kuya Daniel and MCGI’s charity works include daily free medical, dental and legal consultations, public rides, and scholarship grants, among others. They also extend assistance by providing airfare back home to Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) especially those who met unfortunate plights in their work abroad.
“Like what Bro. Eli tells us (about) everything that we need to learn, all the goodness of God, we show them (to others) through charity works,” Kuya Daniel said during an interview with the UNTV News and Rescue Asia-Oceania Bureau.
Kuya Daniel, who conceptualized and initiated the “Tulong Muna, Bago Balita” (Rescue First, Report Later) advocacy of UNTV News and Rescue, is also the Assistant to the Overall Servant of MCGI that caters to the needs of brethren residing in different continents.
Enthusiastic Crowd
Adrian and Gift Bartolo, who were at the concert, said, “First of all, we are thanking God because Kuya Daniel visited us here in Australia. We are delighted for the reason that we saw him face to face and the brethren became more exuberant in the process.”
“I’m very thankful to God for our Assistant to the Overall Servant for coming to Australia and visiting our brethren here. In fact, it gave us a lot of courage in faith,” Kate Alba told UNTV News and Rescue during an interview.
Karen Soria, one of the concert goers, admitted that she is overwhelmed and speechless, adding, “It is joyful to be with Kuya Daniel once more.”
The “Sonata of Love” concert was also graced by VIPs, which included the Philippine Embassy in Australia.
“Thank you very much for inviting the Embassy. To be present in this event, it has been a very successful event (for) me, personally, being a first time attendee. I am very impressed with how successful it has been, but more importantly to be a part of a community of faithful people,” said Consul General Nina Cainglet of the Philippine Embassy in Australia.
Consul Cainglet added: “As a person, it has been enlightening and uplifting to see all of our brothers and sisters joining together in the faith and wholeheartedly extending help so that their endeavors would further help our country and our fellow men.”
Not the Last
The “Sonata of Love” concert in Australia will not be the last singing engagement of Kuya Daniel as he vowed to transform it into a series of fundraising productions in different parts of the world.
“God willing, our next schedule would be in the Middle East, then the United Kingdom and hopefully, before end of the year, we could come back here specifically in New Zealand where it is accessible for those in Australia,” Kuya Daniel said in an interview.
