Kenneth Duremdes and Marlou Aquino will once again lead the BOC Transformers against the winless DOJ Justice Boosters as they aim to sweep Group B in the first round of eliminations of UNTV Cup Season 5 at the Pasig City Sports Complex on November 6.
The Transformers are currently on a roll with an unbeaten record after four games, averaging 85.25 points per game on 46% field-goal shooting percentage. BOC are already assured of a spot in the second round.
Playing-coach Duremdes cited that most of their wins are down to the wire endings. He also added that DOJ should not be taken lightly who are yet to get into the winning column.
“Well ‘yung next game, ang kailangan talaga naming i-improve is how to start well. Kasi lahat ng mga games namin, slow start, nagrerely na lang kami sa second half dun sa experience and sa instinct. So hindi pwede mangyari ‘yun every game,” said Duremdes.
Completing the cast for BOC are Michael Sumalinog, who delivered 18 points including 4/7 from beyond the arc against the PNP Responders, ex-pro Gherome Ejercito, Samuel Ignacio and Rizal Vonn Ignacio.
In our second game, Congress need a crucial win against last season’s runner-up PNP Responders to avoid early exit in Group B.
The Solons suffered heartbreaking losses against BOC, 92-93 off an Ejercito half-court buzzer beater and 100-102 shocker to the NHA Builders two weeks ago.
Ex-PBA players Kiko Adriano, Egay Billones, and Erwin Sta. Maria will again banner HOR while PNP will rely on two-time MVP Ollan Omiping and three-point specialist Julius Criste.
UNTV Cup, conceptualized by Mr. Public Service Kuya Daniel Razon, is the first charity basketball league in the country. More than nine million pesos will be given away this season to the chosen beneficiaries of each participating government agencies.
