Daniel Razon, veteran media personality, got the big yeses of the eight judges and online citizens in the first ever search for ultimate doers of Do More Awards.
Social media news outlet Rappler and deodorant brand Rexona spearhead Do More Awards.
Razon, also known as Mr. Public Service in Philippine TV, was announced the Ultimate Luminary winner during the awards night last November 28 at the Shangri-La Hotel in Makati City. Luminary is one of the eight categories honored in the event.
The judges’ votes constitute 60% of the winning points. The other 40% came from the online poll, which Rappler opened for one month until November 24 this year.
Do More Awards underscored Razon’s efforts to get-go a redefined media practice called Tulong Muna Bago Balita (Rescue First, Report Later). An unorthodox style from how Philippine media does its job, the news-and-rescue tandem campaigns to save people first then report the news later.
Razon or “Kuya Daniel” is the current CEO and Chairman of UNTV-BMPI.BMPI stands for Breakthrough and Milestones Productions International.
The Tweet Surge for Daniel Razon’s win
The awarding ceremony was an invited-only event but Rappler made it available to the netizens through live streaming.
Hours before the recognition rite kicked off, anticipation as to who the winners will be peaked. Social media sites became busy with the hashtag #KuyaDANIELat30. Kuya Daniel’s fans feasted on Twitter and Facebook cheering him for the win.
The posts were also greetings for Kuya Daniel’s 30th anniversary in public service.
Incidentally during the same night of November 28, an advance screening of Isang Araw (One Day) was held for the benefit of typhoon victims in Visayas.
