More than 3,000 underprivileged Filipino youth will study as scholars of the La Verdad Christian College in Apalit and Caloocan for school year 2017-2018. This is under the advocacy of Kuya Daniel Razon’s free quality education program.
Bro. Eli Soriano, the Overall Servant of the Members Church of God International (MCGI), with the veteran broadcast journalist, the CEO and President of Breakthrough and Milestones Production International (BMPI) founded the private learning institution La Verdad Christian College (LVCC) in Apalit, Pampanga on 1998.
This, along with the second branch of La Verdad in Caloocan in Caloocan City, are Bro. Eli and Kuya Daniel’s joint projects to give service to the people.
Study Now, Pay Never at LVCC
Since its inception, La Verdad has offered quality education to deserving but indigent youths. Through education, they have seen a light of hope that they will be able to get out of poverty. The school doesn’t charge tuition and miscellaneous fees and offers uniform, books and daily lunch for free.
“Our banner is ‘Study Now, Pay Never’. Just study, do well on your studies, it’s free. This came from the advocacy of Bro. Eli and Bro. Daniel to really give quality education to poor but deserving students.”, said Dr. Luzviminda E. Cruz, the school administrator of La Verdad Christian College – Apalit campus.
Students enrolled in the college level are taking up courses that include: AB Broadcasting, BS Accountancy, BS Accounting Technology, BS Information Systems and BS Social Work, as well as technical-vocational programs under the Technical Education Skills and Development Authority (TESDA) programs like Office Management, Mass Communication Technology, Health Care Services and Cookery.
The Apalit campus also offers Preschool, Primary, Junior and Senior High School.
Holistic Development First
La Verdad has also raised the bar in the Philippine educational system, since it does not only focus on academic performance, but also gives a premium on the holistic development of its students.
“Since we are a Christian College, we primarily educate students with true Christian values. We give great emphasis on academic excellence, but just the same, we know how important it is to ensure values formation in them,” added the School Administrator Johna P. Bautista of LVCC Caloocan campus.
Big Help to Indigents
The school administrators assure that fundamental to La Verdad’s nature as a one-of-a-kind private learning institution is to provide world class teaching methods and facilities that can go head-to-head with the best in the world, all received and dedicated to poor yet deserving students.
A lot of poor parents and guardians appreciate the free quality education concept initiated by Bro. Eli and Kuya Daniel, through La Verdad Christian College. One such parent is Mary Grace Evaristo, a mother of one of the scholars. “I do laundry for other people so I can help my children finish their studies. When my child was accepted in La Verdad, I learned that their policies are very good, thats why I am so thankful that they are helping us” she added.
Isaias Marin, a guardian of another LVCC scholar, spoke positively of the way La Verdad builds its students to not only be good in academics but also as a person.
“They really see to it that discipline and their policies are carried out. Their discipline is a Christian way of disciplining so that the children will grow up to be God-fearing,” stressed Marin.
